BIG BUDI BAND w/ SPECIAL GUESTS

bUDI is a boisterous and joy-informed vibration orchestra cut from the
spirit of creative curiosity and sonic adventurousness. Led by Nick
Dourado, who operates at the confluence of romantic and impressionist
pianism, earth systems realness and freewheeling study. Nick is a
disciple and faculty member of the Creative Music Workshop; a
programme developed by Jerry Granelli that teaches embodiment and
listening as the fundamentals of music. The Big Budi Band follow the
path carved by Granelli's esteemed ensembles that continue the
American musical lineages of bebop and spontaneous composition. They
have gone on to develop their sound mixing with the tonal characters
of Aquakultre, Special Costello, Fiver, Century Egg, Lido Pimienta,
Beverly Glenn-Copeland and many more. The music is a playground of
systems in discord and harmony, that unfold as a navigation of balance
and possibility, as simply as can be, scribed in a universal language.
Indebted deeply to ancestral musics, bUDi searches outside of european
singularity; deforming tuning, rhythm, melody, harmony, time and space
with abandon towards the restful and authentic.
