Open Borders is an international music group from Halifax Nova Scotia. Founded by Mohammad Sahraei and Matt Gallant in 2017. The band has had many culturally diverse guests involved in their concerts over the years, and includes Behrooz Mihanka and Lukas Pierce as the other primary members.

Open Border’s original music is written largely by Iranian Canadian composer Mohammad Sahraei and Behrooz Mihanka. The repertoire is arranged collectively, bringing a wide variety of influences built upon the broad experience from both new Canadians and veterans of a wide sweep of the Halifax music scene. The Music of Open Borders is a highly original sound influenced by Iranian folk and classical traditions, jazz and rock motifs, Western classical and an overall love for World music.
